Saffron - Windsor
Bengali & South Indian omnivore restaurant
All the standard veggie dishes you would expect plus plenty of South Indian vegetarian specialities to make this place worth travelling for. Saffron is the favourite Indian eaterie by far of the owners of Langton House, the local veggie-friendly bed and breakfast.
The food is wonderful and the staff are friendly and eager to please. Our locals recommend asking for a vegan Thali, so that you will be served with a huge assortment of delicious dishes - more than you can eat in one sitting! Saffron is extremely good value and perfect if your looking for a night out and want to be made to feel special.
Please note that their website is currently not available, but their food is!

Ann 2006-09-14 10:47:19We visited here some weeks ago and I must say it was worth the journey from Reading. The food was wonderful and the staff were friendly and so eager to please. We asked if they could do a vegan Thaile (is that how you spell it!). We were presented with a huge assortment of dishes all delicious and there was so much, there was no chance we would get through it all. This restaurant not only serves excellent food, it is extremely good value and perfect if your looking for a night out and want to be made to feel special!

They are very open to large parties and veggie buffets too. This restaurant aims to please, and is eager to cater to veggies and vegans!
TL Frederick 2006-05-01 10:33:28The service and ambience are charming in this small and rather ultra-RED restaurant. The owner has a good idea what it means to follow a vegan diet, but some of the staff are a little…"unaware." As such, it's important to double check about the chutneys, etc. Food-wise, the dosas are great, and the tomato bartha is lovely, but maybe steer clear of the "Iddly".... Essentially Saffron prepares food is that is ever so mild, but oh so delicately spiced — perhaps the fluffiest rice in the world, too: it could have blown away if there were just the slightest breeze. Dinner for 2 with a bottle of wine, one large beer, and appetizers with mains came to 48 pounds. Not bad for a nice night out.
